The Endoplasmic Reticulum
The Endoplasmic Reticulum has the function of manufacturing, processing, and transporting chemical compounds for use inside and outside of the cell. These are mostly proteins. Pretty big job, huh? However the ER is useless without ribosomes to transport proteins anywhere. The ER is also associated with diseases such as cancer, metabolic disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
