The Plasma Membrane
The Plasma Membrane seperates the cell from the outside environment. It lets proteins, which are carried by ribosomes pass through gaps in its sheild. However it has been linked to diseases which close these gaps causing the cell to die. It has also been known to let viruses or malignant bacteria into cells.
